Filton Athletics Academy represented at Avon Schools and the GB relay squad at the International Games.
The Avon Schools event was held this weekend at the Yate Outdoor Sports complex with 2 academy students picked for the team. Jake Fisher an athletics academy student competed in the LJ achieving 1st place. Brett Halliwell who is not a member of the academy but a student here at the college returning from injury, competed in the 3K as the only senior in his race and had a difficult task with no one to push him along leading well ahead of the field.
Leon Reid had been chosen for Avon Schools but was also called up to represent GB in the relay squad at the Bedford International Games. Lauren O’Reilly also entered the same games for the 100H and in horrendous conditions and a head wind of -3.5 came a credible 5th place with an official pb of 14.68.
These are excellent achievements for the athletics academy here at Filton College and I look forward to our second year with the recruitment of many more talented athletes. Andrea Lock Athletics Academy Coach.
