Successful weekend for Athletics Academy students
Bristol Academy of Sport Athletes competed last weekend at the Welsh Champs in Cardiff.
All competed well with Stephen Willcox reaching the final of the U20 60m. Jake Fisher competed in both the long jump and the triple jump, achieving second place in the Triple Jump. George Giles competed in the 200m for the first time. Despite this, and the fact he could not train fully due to injury, he narrowly missed out on a third place finish. George also helped out throughout the event, developing his officiating skills and completing tasks towards his sport qualification.
Abi Johnston competed in the South West Schools Cross Country at Exeter on Saturday in tough conditions. Abi now waits to hear if she has qualified for a place at English Schools.
Leon Reid competed over the last two weekends, achieving first place in both the 60m (6.99) representing Great Britain at the Celtic Games and again on Saturday at the Birmingham Games in the U20 200m (22.31).
The academy’s next competition is Sunday 19th February at UWIC for the third Grand Prix Open Meeting.
